Dear Members,
Thank you to everyone who responded to our winter survey. You gave us great suggestions on how to improve volunteering at Parkstone. Here’s what you asked for:
• More info on non-racing volunteering
• Flexibility: family-friendly, ashore options, and better timing
• Recognition – even just snacks and drinks!
• Mentoring and training for new or unfamiliar roles
• Help for new members to feel involved and confident
We’ve listened. I’m your new Volunteering Coordinator, and I’ll be your go-to contact for anything volunteering-related. I’ll be sending out a monthly Volunteering Ahoy newsletter with updates, opportunities, training news, and progress.

August Volunteering Opportunities
Youth Week – 3rd to 8th August
The UK’s largest youth sailing event needs more helping hands! Some roles include:
• Helm and crew for Jennies (PB2 required): Guide and encourage our youngest sailors in Parkstone Bay.
• Mothership support: A love of singing and sweet-throwing a bonus!
• Tally hut spotters: Help track who’s on the water.
• Launch & recovery teams: Support trolley movement and shore ops.
• Car park marshals: Mornings only.
• Yard setup (2nd August): Get everything ready before the week begins.
You can help for a day or more — most roles are part-day. It’s a great way to connect with other members and families.

Poole Week – 24th to 29th August
• Still need patrol boat crews – sign up via Dutyman.
• Looking for a 13+ youth member to be Assistant Race Officer on the Platform all week. On-water from 12:00–17:30 daily. A fantastic chance to join the adult race team and learn from the best!
You can help for a day or more — most roles are part-day. It’s a great way to connect with other members and families.

New Members – Welcome Aboard!
Finding your feet? Need help or a friendly intro? How about informal meetups with longer-standing members — let me know if that sounds useful.
That’s it for now. Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm — it’s what makes Parkstone special. I’ll be back in September with more updates!
