What to expect...
Whether you've never picked up a paintbrush before or you've been painting for years, this friendly and inspiring workshop is the perfect opportunity to discover - or rediscover - the beauty of watercolour.
Professional artist Ali Board will guide you through a range of watercolour techniques, combining live demonstrations with plenty of individual support and encouragement throughout the day. Working in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, you'll learn how to build confidence with the medium while developing your own style at a pace that suits you.
Complete beginners are very welcome. Ali is an experienced and encouraging tutor who enjoys helping newcomers overcome that daunting first blank sheet of paper, while more experienced artists will have the opportunity to refine their techniques, experiment with new approaches and gain fresh inspiration.
What you'll need
You have two options for your art materials:
1. Bring your own materials
You can bring everything you need with you, following the equipment list provided by Ali.
Click here to view the equipment list and workshop instructions
2. Ask Ali to provide your complete kit – £25
Alternatively, Ali can purchase and bring everything on the equipment list for you. The cost is £25, payable directly to Ali on the day by cash or card.
If you'd like Ali to provide your kit, please email [email protected] by 9th December so that we can let her know in advance. After this date, you will need to provide your own equipment.
Please note that although Ali's equipment list asks participants to bring coverings for the table and floor, you do not need to bring these – the Club will provide both table and floor coverings.
Choose what you'd like to paint
There are three different images to choose from for your painting on the day. You'll find all three in the workshop instructions link above.
Please choose your preferred image in advance and print it out to bring with you, following the instructions in the link.
If you are asking Ali to provide your £25 equipment kit, please also tell us in your email whether you would like to paint the first, second or third image.
Lunch
The workshop is designed to be as sociable as it is creative, with plenty of opportunities to chat, share ideas and enjoy the company of fellow members throughout the day.
There will be an hour's break at lunchtime. If you book a place on the course, we'll get in touch closer to the time to ask whether you'd like us to save you a seat on a shared Art Workshop table in the restaurant for lunch.
Whether you're looking to learn a new skill, improve your painting or simply enjoy a relaxing and creative day, this promises to be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
If you have any questions about the workshop, equipment or picture choices, please email [email protected] and we'll do our best to help.
