Job description:
We are seeking an experienced power boat driver to run our seasonal ferry service from the yacht club to our moorings in Poole Harbour. The ferry/launch is a 24 ft motor boat capable of carrying up to 12 passengers. It is fitted with an inboard diesel and a forward steering cab. The season runs from April to October, the hours are on a rota basis and can be flexible.
Currently looking to fill 2 positions -
1 week on, 1 week off position.
Evenings - 5pm till dusk Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs.
Weekend working is required.
A powerboat level 2 qualification is essential and a knowledge of sailing craft and Poole Harbour would be helpful.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 7 months
Hours: 20-40 per week / 10-12 per week
Salary: £13.50 per hour
Responsibilities
- Navigate and operate the ferry safely, ensuring the timely transport of passengers and cargo.
- Conduct pre-departure checks on equipment and safety gear.
- Monitor weather and tide conditions and adjust routes as necessary.
- Maintain accurate logs of voyages and incidents.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking.
- Collaborate with crew members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Utilize time management and analysis skills to optimize ferry schedules and routes.
