Regular Clubs & Activities

because sailors don't just sail

The PYC Culture Club isn't just about special events - it's also home to a range of regular clubs and activities that bring members together throughout the year.

Whether you'd like to discover your artistic side, share your thoughts on a great book, learn a new skill or simply enjoy spending time with like-minded members, there's something for everyone. Our friendly clubs are a wonderful way to meet new people, try something different and make the most of club life, both on and off the water.

Browse the clubs below to find out more. New members are always welcome, so why not come along and give one a try?

If you have an idea for a new regular club or activity, we'd love to hear from you. Please email [email protected] and we'll be happy to explore the possibilities.

Art Group

Whether you're an experienced artist or just enjoy being creative, our friendly art group is a great place to paint, learn and enjoy the company of fellow members in a relaxed atmosphere.

This group meets every Friday morning throughout the off-season.

If you'd like to find out more, please contact Amanda on [email protected].

Book Club

The Book Club meets on the first Monday of each month at 10am and the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Both sessions discuss the same book, so you can choose whichever day suits you best each month.

We read one book a month, throughout the year, with a good mix of genres. It's a friendly, informal group where everyone is welcome, whether you're an avid reader or simply enjoy sharing thoughts over a good book.

If you'd like to join either the Monday or Tuesday group, please WhatsApp Megan on 07305 632953.

New members are always very welcome.

Bridge Club

Bridge is a wonderfully sociable game that also provides plenty of mental stimulation. Whether you're a seasoned player or looking to get back into the game, you'll find a friendly welcome at Parkstone Yacht Club.

The club meets every Thursday from October to April at 6:30, for a prompt 6:45 game start time. We play mostly duplicate bridge, and once a month have a competition night, with a small prize for the winners.

If you're interested in joining or would like to find out more, please contact Ali Popper at [email protected].

Ladies Lunches

Ladies' Lunches are a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food, great company and an interesting guest speaker in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Held on the first Thursday of each month throughout the off-season, each lunch includes a delicious two-course meal followed by a talk. If you'd like to know more, contact Elaine at [email protected] or ask at Reception. New faces are always very welcome.

Details of upcoming dates and speakers can be found on the Culture Club Events page.

Please book at Reception.

Making Music

Whether you're a seasoned musician or have never played with others before, Making Music is a relaxed, friendly group for anyone who enjoys making music together (and a beer at the interval!).

The joint organisers are recording artist and singer-songwriter Nigel Waite, and Steve Town, who has played in a wide variety of bands. All ages, abilities and levels of experience are welcome. Bring your instrument, your voice or simply your enthusiasm, and enjoy playing with fellow members in a fun, informal atmosphere.

You don't need to be able to read music. Current instruments include piano accordion, guitars, ukulele, bass guitar, keyboards, clarinet, flute and voice.

The group meets twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays from October to March at 7pm in the Clubhouse. There is no charge to attend.

The ensemble also performs (for those who wish to take part) at Parkstone Entertains each spring.

If you'd like to find out more or come along to a session, please contact Steve Town. New members are always very welcome, and more experienced musicians are always happy to help those who are newer to playing in a group.

Yoga Class

Yoga is a wonderful way to improve flexibility, strength and balance while taking time to relax and unwind. Whether you're new to yoga or have been practising for years, you'll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Classes take place every Tuesday at 9:30am.

After each class, many of us head to the bar area for a drink and a chat, making it a great opportunity to get to know others and enjoy the social side of the group.
