As well as the previous reminder to sign up for the Easter Regatta/ pay class fees, the following came out of last week’s Fleet Captain’s meeting:
- The excellent talk by John Doerr on (a) changes to the RRS (on their 4 yearly cycle) and (b) how to use them was videoed for those unable to attend (or needing a reminder arleady) and is available at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cPiJZo2S7PQ. I found it a very helpful presentation of the rules and would recommend this.
- In line with the RRS changes, the club NoR/ SI’s have been updated with a lot of work by the Sailing Committee, including our own Christina, Graham Davies and Simon Flack. These are available online at PYC_Sailing_Instruction_2025_bold_print.aspx (but will not be included in the new course book).
- The Fleet NoR and SI addenda have also been updated to reflect the decisions taken at our AGM (changes made to MiniSeries and addition of Fleet representation at the Team Racing to scoring average points in the NoR Addendum and to Penalties/ Protests in the SI’s Addendum). These can be found on the Fleet Website (with thanks to John Lyons) at Race Management - Parkstone Yacht Club - Poole, Dorset. A ‘hard copy’ is available on the group email.
- At the same time. the PYC Course Book and Charts have been updated. These will be available in hard copy before the season starts. Distribution process is still to be decided so watch this space. There are mark name changes, new marks and repositioned marks. Simon is putting together a summary of the changes. You can bone up online at PYC Crs bk.
- Steve Tyler has developed a new Yard Plan designed to recognise the changes in fleet sizes. Spaces will be marked out asap (not necessarily before 12/4) and Steve will be on hand on 12/4 to help direct fleets to the right place.
- The Club Safeguarding Policy has been updated (led by Simon Flack) which is worth a read Integrated Safeguarding Policy. Particular attention was drawn to Section 3 - Safe use of changing facilities.
- Race arrangements will change for Poole Week with the intention being that each fleet has 3 days with a platform start and 3 days with a Golden Dolphin start in the top triangle.
- There was a nudge on Dutyman – most of our slots in Spring/ Summer are filled but there is a vacant FF ARO slot on Easter Sunday and then a bunch from September omwards for those who haven’t signed up yet.
- There was also a request to ask everyone to complete the Race Management Questionnaire that was sent out recently, to help the club understand what training to organise. There is a particular need for Judges.
And finally, your reward for reading this far is a reminder of the link to the
